On 21 May 2026, the Annual General Meeting of the Kashubian Employers’ Association took place, serving as an annual forum to review the organisation’s activities and define future directions for cooperation aimed at supporting entrepreneurship and strengthening the region’s economic potential.
The meeting was opened by President Zbigniew Jarecki, who welcomed the members of the Association and thanked them for their continued commitment and engagement in the organisation’s activities. In his opening remarks, he highlighted the importance of cooperation between entrepreneurs, local governments and institutions supporting economic development, stressing the need to further strengthen dialogue and joint efforts aimed at fostering local entrepreneurship.
During the event, the Board’s report on the Association’s activities for 2025 was presented, covering the implementation of statutory objectives, actions undertaken to represent the interests of employers, and initiatives supporting entrepreneurship and economic cooperation across the region. Members of the Meeting were also presented with the report of the Audit Committee, which positively assessed the organisation’s activities and the implementation of its statutory objectives.
An important part of the meeting was also a session with representatives of Polish Nuclear Power Plants (PEJ), during which strategic infrastructure and investment projects influencing the economic development of Pomerania and international business cooperation were discussed. The main topic focused on the construction of Poland’s first nuclear power plant in Lubiatowo-Kopalino, being developed by Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe (PEJ). It was emphasised that the investment, comprising three AP1000 Westinghouse reactor units with a combined capacity of 3,750 MW, will play a significant role in strengthening the country’s energy security and supporting regional economic growth. According to the information presented, the first reactor unit is expected to begin commercial operations in 2036.
The meeting also included discussion of the Via Maris project, a planned road connection designed to improve transport links between the Tricity area and the northern part of the Pomeranian Voivodeship, including Władysławowo and the Hel Peninsula. Participants stressed the importance of this investment for improving regional accessibility, increasing traffic flow, and reducing congestion on existing routes, particularly during the peak tourist season. It was noted that the development of modern transport infrastructure remains one of the key factors supporting the economic competitiveness of Pomerania.
Representatives of PUBIH also attended the Annual General Meeting and introduced the organisation’s activities and cooperation offer addressed to entrepreneurs interested in international business development. The presentation outlined opportunities to support Polish companies entering the Ukrainian market, as well as Ukrainian businesses seeking to establish operations in Poland. During the discussion, members of the Association expressed considerable interest in the development projects presented by PUBIH, particularly in relation to real estate investments as well as infrastructure, warehousing and logistics projects. It was emphasised that the region’s strategic location on the Baltic Sea, combined with expanding transport infrastructure and the proximity of seaports, creates significant potential for the further development of logistics investments and facilities supporting trade and international transport.
PUBIH representatives also provided information about the activities of the investment group Via Polonia, represented by members of the organisation and recognised as one of the first Polish companies to invest in Ukraine following the outbreak of the war. The group is currently focused on preparing investment land for logistics infrastructure development in the area surrounding the Lviv ring road, which, according to current plans, is expected to become available to investors from Poland, Ukraine and Western Europe in the second half of the year. During the meeting, Andrzej Kowalewski, Director of the Lviv Office, highlighted the strong potential for economic cooperation between Polish and Ukrainian businesses, as well as growing interest in investments related to Ukraine’s reconstruction and infrastructure development.
An important part of the meeting was also a discussion on the challenges currently faced by entrepreneurs in an evolving economic environment, as well as opportunities for further cooperation between the business sector, local government authorities and business support institutions. Participants emphasised the importance of strong representation of the employers’ community and the continuation of initiatives supporting the economic development of the Kashubian region and Pomerania.
The Annual General Meeting took place in an atmosphere of constructive discussion and cooperation, reaffirming the importance of strengthening the role of the Kashubian Employers’ Association as a platform bringing together the business community and representing its interests in relations with social and institutional partners.
