From 29 to 31 May 2026, Lviv hosted the fifth edition of OL Science and Tech Fest, one of Ukraine’s leading science and technology events. Organized as part of Ukraine’s National Science Day celebrations, the festival brought together more than 1,300 participants, including scientists, researchers, educators, students, entrepreneurs, and technology enthusiasts from across the country and abroad.
Held at Lviv Polytechnic National University, the three-day event provided a unique platform for discussions on science, innovation, education, and technology. The program included lectures, panel discussions, workshops, exhibitions, and presentations of scientific and technological projects developed by Ukrainian research teams and startups.
Among the distinguished guests were Nobel Prize laureate Svante Pääbo, British neurosurgeon and author Henry Marsh, and British physicist Nicholas Braithwaite. Their presentations covered a wide range of topics, including human evolution, the future of healthcare, science education, and the growing role of technology in modern society. The event also highlighted the achievements of Ukrainian scientists and researchers, demonstrating their continued contribution to scientific progress despite the challenges posed by the ongoing war.
Particular interest was generated by the innovation expo, where Ukrainian startups, technology companies, and research teams presented their latest developments and technological solutions. Visitors also had the opportunity to explore exhibitions dedicated to the history of Ukrainian science and the work of Ukrainian researchers conducting scientific studies in Antarctica.
Representatives of PUBIH also participated in the festival. Their attendance provided an opportunity to gain insight into current trends within Ukraine’s science and innovation ecosystem, establish contacts with representatives of academic institutions and innovation support organizations, and learn more about ongoing research and technology initiatives. Discussions held during the event also focused on potential areas of cooperation between Polish and Ukrainian partners, particularly in the fields of innovation, research, technology transfer, and economic development.
OL Science and Tech Fest 2026 demonstrated that, despite the challenges of wartime conditions, Ukraine continues to invest in science, education, and innovation. The festival created a valuable space for knowledge exchange, presentation of scientific achievements, and networking between researchers, businesses, and institutions supporting technological development. Participation in the event provided a better understanding of the potential of Ukraine’s research and innovation sector and helped identify new opportunities for future international cooperation.
