On 21 May 2026, a webinar was held on Polish-Ukrainian cooperation in the field of energy transition and energy security. The meeting was attended by representatives of public administration, financial institutions, and industry organisations from Poland and Ukraine, including representatives of PUBIH, who took part in the discussions and presented their perspective on economic cooperation.
In the opening part of the event, representatives of both countries’ administrations emphasised the importance of cooperation in the area of energy security, as well as the reconstruction and modernisation of Ukraine’s energy sector. Attention was drawn to the strategic dimension of the energy transition and the role of international partnerships in investment and infrastructure processes.
Among those who addressed the audience in the opening session were, among others, Piotr Łukasiewicz, Chargé d’affaires ad interim of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Kyiv, Andrzej Domański, Minister of Finance and Economy, and Oleksii Sobolev, Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine.
This was followed by a panel discussion dedicated to the reconstruction of Ukraine’s energy sector and the prospects for Polish-Ukrainian cooperation, moderated by a representative of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Kyiv. The discussion covered key challenges related to rebuilding the energy system, investment needs, and the importance of engagement from international partners.
The main participants of the panel included, among others, Konrad Wojnarowski, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Energy, Maria Malaja from SAEE, Maryna Khlystun, Executive Director of UkraineInvest, Piotr Dmuchowski, President of PFR TFI, and Ruslan Illichov, Director General of the Federation of Employers of Ukraine. The speakers underlined the need to rebuild a resilient and modern energy system in Ukraine, as well as the importance of public–private cooperation in this process.
The next part of the webinar focused on practical aspects of the energy transition, including the development of renewable energy sources and green reconstruction projects. The discussion covered the potential of the biogas and biomethane market, as well as experience related to the implementation of renewable energy projects.
Among the speakers in this section were Dr Joanna Pandera (Forum Energii), Oleksii Orzhel from the Energy Community Secretariat, as well as representatives of Ukraine’s energy sector and companies implementing renewable energy projects.
An important part of the event was also dedicated to financing the energy transition. Instruments supporting investment and exports were discussed, along with financing opportunities for energy projects provided by development institutions and commercial banks. Contributions in this area were made by Mateusz Szczurek, Member of the Management Board of Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego, and a representative of the World Bank.
During the discussion, it was highlighted that Ukraine’s energy transition is one of the key processes of the coming years, while also opening up significant opportunities for cooperation for companies from Poland, Ukraine, and Europe.
The webinar concluded with a Q&A session, allowing participants to clarify the issues discussed and exchange experiences regarding practical aspects of cooperation in the energy sector.
The event had an expert-focused character and confirmed strong interest in the topic of energy transition, as well as the need for further development of Polish-Ukrainian cooperation in this area.
